If languages were like buildings

If languages are like buildings, they're, like, on the 20th floor of Japanese, and they're trying to get to the fifteenth floor of English, but instead of going out of the Japanese building, and getting in to the English building at the ground floor, they're trying to jump across. This is particularly ill-advised as the two buildings are in different continents.

Apparently the Wright Brothers called their first plane "Flyer 1", but it should more properly have been known as "Briefly leave the ground and then crash"
